John is an author

 John has recently completed a book on the history of the Boy Scouts.  He came in to create headshots to use for the cover images.  

John is a huge collector of Boy Scout memorabilia.  In the photo here, you can see him holding a 100+ year old merit badge examination prep booklet pertaining to electricity.
